Then will come a steadfast mind, and perfect peace. Trust in him by completely surrendering all to him. Has God sent his one and only Son to save you by his death on the cross? Then trust in him. Is God still on his throne, blessing and keeping his children? Then be steadfast. The only way to achieve a steadfast mind that lasts into eternity is through total trust in God. Steadfast action comes from a steadfast mind. But those who are steadfast look straight ahead like Christ, who resolutely “set his face to go to Jerusalem” (Lk 9:51) and who said through the prophet Isaiah, “I have set my face like flint” (Isa 50:7). When Moses killed the Egyptian for abusing his kinsman, it says that he first looked to the right and the left (Ex 2:12). Steadfast minds are firm and do not waiver. Christ died for us while we were still sinners (Ro 5:8) and brought us peace with the Father. We first have enmity with God because of our sin. Perfect peace starts with peace with God through Jesus Christ (Eph 2:14). Perfect peace is the goal of humanity, though there are few who understand this, they are aiming for it in all their idolatry. He blesses us, and he keeps us in the palm of his hand. Breaking Down the Key Parts of Isaiah 26:3 This is what Adam and Eve failed to do (Gen 3:6), but what Jesus did to perfection (Lk 22:42). For the Christian, perfect peace is a byproduct of the simple command to “trust in” the Lord. Humans seek the world’s peace as a great achievement. It also stands that his perfect peace is eternal. Verse 4, which directly follows says, “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.” God is not only our Rock but he is our eternal Rock, which means that we are not only to trust him for this life but forever. Those who have a steadfast mind will be kept by God in perfect peace. Those who trust in the Lord will have a steadfast mind as a result. Here is a series of causes and effects, along with some unspoken ones that undergird the whole verse. When we put all in His care, we can be rest assured that we are safe in His Hands and our future is secure in Him.“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.” Explanation and Commentary on Isaiah 26:3 When we believe and trust Him absolutely, He watches and fights on our behalf so that we are not consumed by the battles of life. For as long as our defense is unshakable, our defeat is not possible. The three Hebrew boys in Daniel chapter 6, chose to trust in God and the result was mind blowing! The fire that could not have any effect on them was the same that burnt their adversaries to ashes. While Peter focused on Jesus, he could come out of the troubled boat and walk on water towards Jesus, but the moment he shifted his focus to the wind, he began to sink. Anytime we make Jesus our focus, our peace is sustained, and we have permanent peace irrespective of the raging storms of life. He is worthy of being trusted today, tomorrow, and forever. With God’s unchanging love and mighty power, we are not perturbed by the raging sea. Look on to God and not at the situation or the pressures of life or the medical doctor’s report. Psalms 125:1 says “They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever.” In other words, those who trust in God cannot be moved, their security is guaranteed in the immunity of God. Only those that trust in God are entitled to triumph over the circumstances of life without sweat. Trusting in the Almighty God brings victory in the battles of life. When we come to Christ by an act of faith, He gives us the Holy Spirit that produces the fruit of the Spirit and gives us the peace that passes all understanding. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. It is also written in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. ”Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”(Matthew 11:28). The Lord’s Promises are very clear and understandable. He is our everlasting strength, and as we trust in Him, He brings all things to pass. When we are devoted to Him, our whole attitude is steady and stable, as we experience His perfect peace. The Hebrew word for “Peace” here is “Shalom” the rest of God, wherein is prosperity, wholeness, welfare, health, strength, protection, power, deliverance and victory. So, where our hearts and minds are, determines the peace we enjoy. God keeps in perfect peace those whose hearts are stayed on Him. Having a heart stayed on God is a secret of the peace of God. It is evident from our anchored Scripture that God keeps in peace all who put their trust in Him.
